However, it is also possible to pay in all of the same areas using cash, meaning that you have the option to choose the method that you find more convenient for you. That being said, you can be sure that you will be able to pay for parking using your credit card.

Nonetheless, it is convenient to know the benefits of paying with a credit card when you are at Universal Studios or Walt Disney World.

A lot of credit card providers enable discounts and benefits according to your spending, so if you have that kind of card you would surely use it in this tourist attraction.

There are several credit card providers that give you extra rewards according to the spending you make in certain places, and Universal Studios is actually a place where you spend a significant amount of money.

However, Universal Studios also offers the option to do all of your payments with an application provided by the Universal Orlando Resort.

  • With the update made in 2021, customers can now pay cashless with only providing the application on their phones. The app allows you to like your credit card, and then make all of your physical purchases with it.

What Are The Daily Parking Rates At Universal Studios?

The parking rates at Universal Studios depend on the area where you park, as well as the time in which you park. If you are not sure about the working hours of the different types of parking on the site, you can always check this information on their park hours calendar on the official website.

However, you should know that each parking area opens 30 minutes before the gates open at the park, so you can count on going there earlier to get in line for the popular rides. This refers to all parking spots around Universal Studios. So, the daily parking fees are:

  • Front Gate Parking – $50 from opening until 5 p.m.
  • Preferred Parking – $35 from opening until 5 p.m./ $20 after 5 p.m.
  • General Parking – $28 from opening until 5 p.m./ $10 after 5 p.m.
  • General Parking – $5 if you buy a movie ticket at Universal Cinema at City Walk.

For people who prefer valet parking, Universal Studios has that option as well in the same working hours. The daily rates are the following:

  • $25 – for the first two hours.
  • $45 – after two hours.

What Is The Difference Between Preferred And General Parking?

The difference between the Preferred and General parking is in the distance from the front gate.

Even though Preferred parking is obviously closer to the front gate, some people wonder whether the difference is significant and whether it is worth it to pay a few more bucks for.

If you have some extra $10 – $15 for a slightly shorter walk, then you will find the Preferred parking quite convenient.

  • Personally, I think preferred parking is a total waste of time as the Disney parks offer a free tram service from the parking lots to the entrance of the parks! It’s actually quite a fun ride in itself!

However, as I said, it is a slightly shorter walk, so you will not have to walk a lot if you park in the general parking area. In fact, the general parking area enables you to walk through City Walk and see everything around that area, which is quite nice by the way.

It only takes about 10 minutes to walk from the general parking to the front gate, while the preferred parking cuts this time in half.

Therefore, the difference is only 5 minutes, meaning that you are not required to walk for a long time in comparison to the general parking.

Nonetheless, if you do not mind paying a couple of bucks more, and you are not a big fan of walking, then you will find this option totally worth it. You will still have to walk around the parks though!

If you intend to visit Universal Studios, you should not worry about bringing cash since you can make all of your payments with a credit card, including parking. You can use a card from any provider, and you can freely pay for everything you need on the site.
