Spinning rides have long been a staple in amusement parks, providing a different kind of excitement and fun compared to roller coasters and other types of attractions.

Walt Disney World is no exception when it comes to offering a variety of spinning rides that cater to everyone from young children to thrill-seekers.

I’ll be honest with you. I don’t like rides that spin, I’m happy getting wet or dropped but spinning is a no for me, fortunately, I have ridden all the rides below (so you don’t have to) and I’ll share my experience of which rides t avoid and which rides to not miss!

From classic attractions such as Dumbo the Flying Elephant and the Mad Tea Party, to whirlwind experiences like Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Walt Disney World has something for everyone to enjoy.

In this article we’ll explore the list of all spinning rides at Disney World that not only promise a fun day but also make memories that last a lifetime.

Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort is home to several spinning rides that attract visitors of all ages.

In this section, we will explore three popular spinning rides: Mad Tea Party, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin.

Mad Tea Party

The Mad Tea Party is a spinning teacup ride situated in the enchanting Fantasyland area. Inspired by the classic Disney film “Alice in Wonderland,” guests can spin their teacups to their liking by using the central steering wheel.

This classic attraction caters to both young and old, capturing the whimsical essence of the famous un-birthday party scene from the movie.

My overall thought is that this ride really does not last very long so I’m usually ok,plus you can see the ride as it’s set outdoors and make your own judgment.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a renowned spinning ride found in the heart of Fantasyland. Resembling the storyline of the charming animated film “Dumbo,” this aerial carousel-style ride allows guests to embark on an uplifting journey by controlling the altitude of their very own flying elephant.

The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Located in the exotic Adventureland, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride is a spinning attraction that enables guests to soar above Agrabah on a vibrantly designed magic carpet. Similar to Dumbo the Flying Elephant, riders have the power to control the height and movement of their carpet for an exhilarating adventure.

Epcot

Epcot is a unique theme park at Walt Disney World Resort, consisting of two main areas: Future World, focused on education and science, and The World Showcase featuring pavilions based on different countries.

In this section, we will discuss Epcot’s spinning ride, Mission: SPACE.

Mission: SPACE

Personal Warning: This ride can ruin your day. I can not cope with this one at all!

Mission: SPACE (not to be confused with Spaceship Earth) is an exciting spinning ride located in the Future World area of Epcot.

This attraction takes guests on a thrilling astronaut-like training experience that simulates a trip to Mars. Riders are assigned roles within a spacecraft and work together to complete a successful mission.

The ride itself utilizes a centrifuge-based system, which creates the sensation of spinning and G-forces experienced by astronauts during space travel. The attraction offers two intensity levels for riders: Orange Mission (more intense), and Green Mission (less intense).

The Orange Mission simulates a more realistic space launch and landing experience, while the Green Mission is a gentler option aimed at guests who may be prone to motion sickness or have other health concerns.

It’s important to note that Mission: SPACE has height restrictions for riders, and guests with certain health conditions are advised not to ride due to the intense nature of the experience.

Of all the Disney rides that spin this is by far the most intense! Notice there is never a long wait time.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes video of how Mission Space actually works.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of the theme parks located in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. This park offers a variety of attractions with a focus on movies, television, and entertainment.

Alien Swirling Saucers

The Alien Swirling Saucers is a spinning ride located in the Toy Story Land section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

This attraction is inspired by the beloved Disney-Pixar film, “Toy Story” and features alien characters from the movie.

Guests board rocket-shaped vehicles for a ride that spins them around while being guided by the little green aliens, who use “The Claw” to control the ride’s movements. Along the way, riders will be immersed in colorful surroundings, supported by a fun, space-themed soundtrack.

This attraction is suitable for families, as it has a relatively low height requirement and a moderate thrill level. It is a popular choice for guests seeking a light-hearted ride experience within Hollywood Studios.

This is a fun one not to be missed and as the title describes it “Swirls” more than it spins and is only very short. I’m fine with this one!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom offers a variety of attractions and rides for guests to enjoy.

However, compared to other Walt Disney World parks, there are fewer spinning rides available in this park. Nonetheless, the park features a family-friendly spinning ride that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike:

While spinning rides may be limited in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, guests can also enjoy other thrilling and immersive attractions, such as:

  • Avatar Flight of Passage
  • Expedition Everest
  • Kilimanjaro Safaris
  • DINOSAUR

Remember to make the most of your visit by exploring the various sights and experiences the park has to offer, including its remarkable animal encounters, captivating shows, and unique theming.

It seems Animal Kingdom is now a ride spinning free zone!

Kali River Rapids

Kali River Rapids is a thrilling water rapids ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World. The attraction offers guests an exciting experience as they navigate through a lush jungle landscape, while aboard a 12-person raft.

With a minimum height requirement of 38 inches (97 cm), the ride is suitable for families and children who meet the criteria.

Rafts at Kali River Rapids have unique names such as “Kathmandoozy”, “Himalayan Hummer”, “Manaslu Slammer”, “Bhaktapur Bubbler”, and “Sherpa Surfer”.

The ride, which lasts approximately 4 minutes, takes guests through a series of twists, turns, and drops, with water splashing in all directions. While spinning and bobbing up and down, riders can expect to get wet during the course of the adventure.

As part of the Genie+ system, Kali River Rapids offers Lightning Lane access, allowing guests to reduce their wait time by reserving a return time later in the day. It is important to note that Kali River Rapids does not offer a single rider line or participate in the Early Entry program at Animal Kingdom.

This ride bumps and turns rather than spins so if you are fine with getting wet (you get soaked) then jump on board.

Section 7: Water Parks

Walt Disney World is home to two amazing water parks that also offer spinning rides for visitors to enjoy.

In this section, we will explore the spinning attractions available at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach.

Typhoon Lagoon Waterpark

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is a tropical-themed water park with a variety of exciting water attractions. Among these attractions are spinning rides that provide guests with a fun and thrilling experience:

  • Keelhaul Falls: This family-friendly raft ride sends guests spinning down a spiraling water slide, surrounded by lush tropical landscaping.
  • Mayday Falls: As the highest and longest waterslide in Typhoon Lagoon, Mayday Falls offers a thrilling spin-filled adventure for guests seeking an exhilarating experience.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach

Disney’s Blizzard Beach is a snow-themed water park that combines the excitement of a ski resort with the fun of a water park. This park offers several spinning rides for guests to enjoy:

  • Teamboat Springs: As the world’s longest family white-water raft ride, Teamboat Springs sends riders on a twisting and turning journey through white-water rapids, complete with spinning drops and turns.
  • Downhill Double Dipper: This unique racing slide sends guests down two parallel slides while spinning and twisting, making for a competitive and adrenaline-pumping experience.

Both Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach offer plenty of spinning experiences to entertain guests of all ages. These water parks are a must-visit for all spinning ride enthusiasts visiting Walt Disney World.

Accessibility and Rider Requirements

Walt Disney World offers various spinning rides that are accessible to a wide range of guests. However, it’s important to review the ride requirements for each attraction to ensure guests can safely and comfortably enjoy the experience.

Most spinning rides, like the Mad Tea Party at Magic Kingdom, do not have a specific height requirement, making them suitable for guests of all ages. Some attractions may have certain accessibility restrictions, such as needing to transfer from a wheelchair or ECV to the ride vehicle.

On the other hand, a few spinning rides might have height requirements to ensure the safety of all guests. Always check the specific height and accessibility requirements for each attraction before planning your visit.

Additionally, Disney World offers the Rider Switch service for families with members who don’t meet the height requirements or have certain disabilities that prevent them from riding. This allows one adult to wait with the non-rider(s) while the rest of the party rides, and then switch places without having to wait in line again.

It’s always best to consult Disney World’s official website or inquire with cast members on-site to confirm accessibility and ride requirements. By doing so, you can ensure a safe, enjoyable, and inclusive experience for everyone in your group.

Conclusion

In summary, Walt Disney World offers a variety of spinning rides that can appeal to both kids and adults. Among the most iconic is the Mad Tea Party at Magic Kingdom, where guests can spin around in teacups.

Other notable spinning attractions can be found throughout the various theme parks, providing guests with a range of experiences to choose from. As you plan your visit, consider adding some of these rides to your itinerary for an extra dose of fun.

Spinning rides make up just a small portion of the diverse attractions available at Walt Disney World. Keep in mind, however, that not all spinning rides are suitable for all guests.

It’s important to research each ride’s specific requirements, such as height, health, and accessibility guidelines, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. This information can be easily found on Disney World’s official website or at the entrance to each attraction.

As a reminder, rides and attractions at Disney World are subject to change, and new additions may be introduced over time. Be sure to stay up-to-date with the latest news, attraction closures, and updates before your trip. Happy spinning!
