Disney World Dress Code Warning: No Capes Allowed (unless you’re a superhero)

Walt Disney World is a place for people of all ages, but it is mostly visited by families and children.

This being said, it is obvious that you need to be dressed properly, so it would not impose unpleasantries for children and their parents.

So, what kind of dress code does Walt Disney World approve, and what kinds of clothes are forbidden?

Since it is a family-oriented environment, Disney World requires that all visitors wear shoes and T-shirts at all times. Children under the age of 14 are allowed to wear costumes of their favorite characters at all times, while others can do this only on special events, such as Halloween.

Walt Disney World is known to be visited by families at all times, meaning that the theme park is always full of children.

This means that you need to know the proper dress code that is required in the park, so you can avoid any unpleasant situations, for instance, not being allowed to enter!

In this article, I have provided all the information related to the attire that is recommended while visiting the attraction, as well as attire that is considered inappropriate and is prohibited.

What Is The Best Way To Dress For Disney World?

In order to avoid any unpleasant situations, the park itself recommends that people wear comfortable attire that will allow them to feel cozy throughout the whole day spent in the Walt Disney World Parks.

For instance, comfortable shoes such as trainers are the recommended attire for your feet since you spend the whole day walking around, meaning that you need something that will provide excellent comfort.

Also, T-shirts and sweaters are the best options for dressing the upper part of your body, as long as you do not have any improper and obscene language and graphics on them.

You must have your body covered properly at all times. Otherwise, you might be removed from the site or not be admitted since the theme park reserves the right to do that in case some visitors do not obey the rules.

When it comes to dressing for Walt Disney World, you must keep in mind that the parks are full of children, and anything that is not child-friendly is not allowed in the park.

  • If you believe that some attire would be not appropriate for a family-oriented environment, then you probably should not wear it.

However, if you want to double-check, you can always read the sections with their guidelines on the official website of Disney World.

Can You Wear Costumes At Disney World?

Children under the age of 14 are allowed to dress up in costumes of their favorite characters at all times.

However, children at the age of 14 and up, as well as adults are not permitted to wear costumes or any kinds of masks unless it is a special event, such as Halloween.

If certain types of masks or costumes are for medical purposes, then the rule does not apply to those individuals.

When it comes to dressing up for special events and costume festivals, then all visitors are allowed to dress up as their favorite characters.

Nonetheless, adults and children over the age of 14 cannot use the opportunity to take pictures or sign autographs for other guests at the theme park. Also, you need to pay attention to the type of costume, i.e. it cannot be very obstructive or offensive in any way.

In addition, the costumes should not give off the violent and objectionable sense, and they cannot include any accessories that might seem like real weapons.

It is also prohibited for the costumes to contain sharp elements or other objects that might hurt anyone accidentally. Furthermore, all costumes should be designed that way, so the eyes of the visitors can be fully visible at all times.

Also, if your costume includes a lot of layers, you might be asked to be additionally screened by security for safety purposes. Themed T-shirts, hats, or capes are all acceptable, as long as they do not contain offensive language or violet images or graphics.

Can You Wear Flip-Flops Or Sandals At Disney World?

Although the guidelines at Disney World do not allow bare feet, that does not refer to shoes that are fully open, such as sandals and flip-flops.

Therefore, you will be allowed to enter with flip-flops or sandals without any issues. However, when deciding the shoes that you are going to wear in the theme park, think about the comfort that those shoes provide.

  • I can tell you from personal experience that wearing uncomfortable footwear will lead to a very unenjoyable experience! You will be doing a lot of walking!

You need to keep in mind that when you go to Disney World, you are required to walk around the whole day, so you need something that is really comfy.

Some flip-flops or sandals can make your feet quite tired, so a better option, in this case, would probably be trainers or some trainer-like shoes.

  • A Top Tip is to “wear in” any footwear before your visit to avoid blisters and injury

Can You Wear A Dress At Disney World?

Dresses are absolutely allowed at Disney World, as long as they are properly designed, i.e. they do not contain any images or text that is not family-friendly.

However, you should take into consideration that dresses can make getting into, and out of low-sitting rides and attractions a little bit more difficult.

On the other hand, they are a convenient option, especially on summer days, since they are light, and they will make the heat more bearable.

Can You Wear Glasses On Roller Coasters And Rides At Disney World?

There is no special policy that refers to glasses on roller coasters and other rides at Disney World. Therefore, it is up to you whether you will wear them or not.

However, it is a good idea to attach a strap to your glasses so you will keep them safe while you are on fast-moving rides.

If you are confused about the dress code in Disney World, you should always ask yourself the question of whether the attire you want to wear is appropriate for families and children.

Since Walt Disney World is a family-friendly place and full of kids, you should always follow the dress rules they have, or else, you might not be allowed to enter the theme park.

Have a magical day!
